Presentation Guidelines

This page summarises the presentation guidelines for all types of presentations (papers, posters, exhibitors, demos).

Papers

Each paper (oral, poster or demo) appearing in the ECCV 2014 technical program must be presented by an author at the Conference.

Oral Presentations

Each paper in an oral session is allocated 18 minutes. This includes time required for the introduction of the speaker, as well as time for questions from the audience. Therefore authors are advised to prepare a 15-minute talk and leave time for questions at the end.

Presenters are requested to be present at the podium at least 15 minutes before the start of their session and introduce themselves to the session chair as soon as they arrive. Presenters are requested to bring their own laptop and test the connection to the AV equipment before the session starts.

Oral presentations will be filmed and posted on videolectures.net. Please sign the consent form with the video lectures technician before starting your presentation. If you do not want to be filmed, please make sure to tell your session chair before your talk.

In addition to the oral presentation, authors are encouraged to present a poster. The poster presentation will be scheduled in the subsequent poster session after the talk (might be on the next day), except for the papers of the very last oral session, which will have their posters in the session before.

Poster Presentations

Each paper in a poster session will be provided with a board that can hold a poster up to 180 cm width x 120 cm height. The poster walls  can easily fit an A0 or larger (118.9 cm width x 84.1 x cm height) poster in portrait or landscape mode, as preferred by the author. Overflow space cannot be guaranteed, the poster board size is a hard limit.

A presenting author is expected to be available in front of the poster for the entire duration of the poster session!

There will be two poster rooms. Poster boards will be numbered. Your poster number will be the number beside your title in the printed program. Presenters are requested to be present at the poster location (in the correct room) at least 10 minutes before the start of their session and post the poster. Adhesive material will be provided for mounting the posters to the boards. Please note, that no electricity will be provide next to the poster boards.

Video Spotlights

Authors of ECCV papers (orals and posters) have the opportunity to submit a short video spotlight. These videos replace the previous oral spotlight presentation and will be shown in loop on a big screen in the main conference hall during the assigned poster session. After the conference they will be made available online, on the ECCV YouTube channel.

The video spotlight should briefly state the problem and outline the proposed method at a very high level. Details should be omitted. The goal of the video is to pique the observer’s interest, so that they come visit your poster.

Videos can be uploaded directly via CMT (Author console) [link]. By uploading your video spotlight, you explicitly authorize the ECCV organizers to put it on YouTube. The deadline for the video spotlights is August 24 2014. They must follow the following constraints:

  • They must contain a title slide based on the following template [link]
  • The title slide must be shown for 2 seconds at the start and end of the video
  • The videos have a hard constraint of being maximally 1 minute long
  • The encoding needs to be H.264/AAC with a bitrate of 1 to 2 Mps (maximum file size 100 MB)

Video spotlights can make use of the audio track. It might be even beneficial once the videos are uploaded to YouTube. However, audio will not be played during the sessions at the conference. This said, please make sure that your video is self-contained even without audio track.

For questions, please email posters@eccv2014.org, ECCV 2014 Poster Chair

Demo Presentations

Demos will happen during the poster sessions. You will be provided a table, two chairs, and electric outlet, and a poster board that can hold a poster up to 180 cm width x 120 cm height. The poster walls  can easily fit an A0 or larger (118.9 cm width x 84.1 x cm height) poster in portrait or landscape mode, as preferred by the author. Overflow space cannot be guaranteed, the poster board size is a hard limit. Wifi will be available throughout the demo session. Please inform the demo chairs if you need wired ethernet access.

Demo spots will be numbered. Your spot number will be the number beside your title in the printed program. You are requested to be present at the demo location at least 10 minutes before the start of the demo session in order to set up the demo and the poster. Adhesive material will be provided for mounting the posters to the boards.
